# Cookie Policy — Velvett

_Last updated: May 20, 2026_

## 1. What is a cookie?

A cookie is a small text file stored on your device by a website or
application when you visit it. Cookies remember information about your
session (language, sign-in state, preferences). This policy also covers
local browser storage technologies (localStorage, sessionStorage,
IndexedDB) and the secure storage used by the Velvett mobile app.

## 2. Cookies used by velvettapp.com

The **velvettapp.com** marketing site is intentionally minimal and
**does not use any analytics or advertising cookies**.

| Cookie / Storage | Type | Purpose | Duration |
| -------------------------------- | --------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------ | ---------- |
| `velvett_lang` (`localStorage`) | Strictly necessary | Remembers the display language chosen by the user | Persistent |

**Strictly necessary** cookies do not require prior consent under EU
ePrivacy rules or the equivalent in your jurisdiction.

## 3. Velvett mobile app

The Velvett mobile app does not use HTTP cookies in the classical sense.
Instead, it relies on **secure local storage** (SecureStore / AsyncStorage
/ Apple Keychain / Android Keystore) to:

- store your authentication session (Supabase token),
- keep your preferences (language, theme, notifications, Spicy settings),
- cache content for offline use (profiles, photos, recently viewed events).

These are described in detail in our
[Privacy Policy](./privacy.html).

## 4. Analytics

No third-party analytics tool (Google Analytics, Plausible, Matomo, Adobe
Analytics, etc.) is currently used on **velvettapp.com**. If this changes,
this policy will be updated and a GDPR / ePrivacy-compliant consent banner
will be deployed before any tracker is set.

## 5. Advertising and partners

The **velvettapp.com** site shows no advertising. The Velvett mobile app
may show ads via Google AdMob (rewarded video, banners) within a consent
framework (UMP / IAB TCF v2.2 in the EU, ATT on iOS). Use **Settings →
Privacy** inside the app to change your preferences or withdraw consent.

## 6. Your rights

You can at any time:

- **Clear local storage** from your browser settings — this will reset the
  language preference for this site.
- **Block or remove cookies** through your browser settings. Some
  convenience features may stop working.
- **Exercise your rights** of access, rectification, erasure, objection
and portability under the GDPR by writing to <privacy@velvett.app>.

## 7. Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated to reflect changes to the site, the app or the
law. The date at the top of the document shows the most recent change.
Material changes are announced on the site and, when relevant, in the app.
